Oliver is a subspecialist Urogynaecologist and specialist Obstetrician/Gynaecologist supporting the delivery of patient-centred care and management of pelvic floor disorders for the women of Western Melbourne. He works with a multi-disciplinary team maintaining strong relationships with general practitioners, physiotherapists, continence nurses and medical specialists including urologists and colorectal surgeons, to provide the best support for women to improve their quality of life.
He lead the Pelvic Floor Unit at Western Health for 10 years, and in this time established a tertiary mesh management service, obstetric trauma and perineal clinic, and supported the development of the advanced practice pelvic floor physiotherapy service. He co-founded of the Commonwealth-funded Australasian Pelvic Floor Procedure Registry, has published over 40 peer reviewed articles and book chapters, and is a scientific editor for the British Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. He has a special interest in pregnancy and birth-related pelvic floor trauma - its prevention, acute management and follow-up, and continues to undertake research and teach in this field.
Oliver also has an interest in clinical informatics, is a Certified Health Informatician Australasia, honorary senior fellow at the Centre for Digital Transformation of Health, University of Melbourne, and co-chair of the Digital Health Policy and Advisory Sub-committee for the Royal Australasian College of Medical Administrators.
